A Day on the Farm: New Goat Kids, Horse Riding, and an Affordable Barber Experience

It rained throughout the night, with a thunderstorm rolling in during the early hours. I enjoyed a restful night’s sleep and woke up refreshed around 9 a.m.

For lunch, I dined out and was pleasantly surprised by how affordable eating out is here.

Around 2 p.m., I headed to the farm, where I was thrilled to find that the mother goat had given birth overnight. I couldn’t resist spending time with the two newborn kids. The mother goat, being very friendly, came close as I played with her babies, which made the experience even more special.

Later in the day, I had the opportunity to go horseback riding with the other volunteers I’d met during my first week. We followed a scenic route through the woods, similar to the path we had taken with the children previously, but slightly longer. The trail led us through beautiful forests, with tall trees flanking the dirt track. I spent over an hour on horseback and felt comfortable and confident along the way.

After my time on the farm, I went to a local barber for a haircut and shave. Amazingly, it all cost me less than £10—a great deal to end a wonderful day.
