I left for Santiago just after noon for my 2:15 flight. It was a 1.5-hour flight over the breathtaking Andes Mountains.
I checked into the hostel just before 5 PM. It’s located on a very quiet street, just a 10-minute walk from the city center. On my first day, I’ve already managed to get a good sense of the city layout.
Everything in Santiago is within a comfortable walking distance. The hostel is close to the river and a city park that stretches for miles. Santiago has a small metro system with around four lines. To use it, you need to get a travel card and top it up as needed.
I spent a few hours walking around the city, soaking in the atmosphere. I stopped for a beer and, to finish off the night, treated myself to a falafel and chips.
For now, I’m going to relax and plan out my week ahead.
