I started my day feeling refreshed and energized. After grabbing a quick breakfast, I headed out to explore the neighborhood and stumbled upon a cozy local coffee shop, Punto Cafe. This charming cafe, located on a scenic corner just a block away from my hostel, was the perfect spot for a morning pick-me-up. I treated myself to a delicious latte.
Navigating Local SIM Cards and Afternoon Adventures
The morning was mostly spent sorting out my new SIM card to ensure I’d stay connected during my travels. By the afternoon, I hopped on a bus to Lago de Regatas, a picturesque lake perfect for a leisurely walk. Situated near the city’s domestic airport, Lago de Regatas offers a unique backdrop with planes landing close by. This outing also helped me get familiar with the city’s transit system, including the nearby metro station, where I learned how to take the train to Retiro.
Evening Socials and a Memorable Steak Night
In the evening, I connected with fellow travelers at the hostel over dinner. It was my first-ever steak night, and the food was incredible! A Canadian soldier, who had a passion for cooking, prepared the entire meal for everyone. We shared stories, laughed, and enjoyed each other’s company, ending the night with games in the hostel’s cozy garden, well past midnight.
