First Day on the Animal Care Project: Volunteering with a Purpose

Today marked the beginning of my journey with the animal care project I’m volunteering for during my stay. I had the chance to meet the dedicated team—thankfully, one member speaks English fluently, making communication easier.

Supporting Children with Autism and Anxiety Through Animal Care

The farm’s mission is to support underprivileged children and young people with autism and anxiety issues. It’s heartwarming to know that our work here directly contributes to their well-being and development.

Hands-On Experience with Animals: From Baby Goats to Horses

My day started with an introduction to the adorable baby goats. I had a wonderful hands-on experience feeding them milk from a bottle—definitely a highlight! Later, I got to meet the horses, some of which were rescued from difficult situations. It was moving to see them thriving in a safe environment.

Engaging in Daily Farm Tasks

After bonding with the goats and horses, I spent time feeding the farm’s geese and chickens. I also had the opportunity to learn how to saddle a horse and take it for a walk around the farm—a fantastic way to end my first day!

Looking Ahead: Involvement with the Farm’s Psychologist

The team shared that I will be meeting the farm’s psychologist on Friday. This will be a chance to learn more about the therapy work they do and how I can get involved. I’ll be working closely with a team of six dedicated individuals, all committed to making a positive impact.
